Background in Textiles
My work at the Lacis Museum of Lace & Textiles has given me a decade of experience with vintage fabrics, sewing tools, and cultural textile preservation. I LOVE working in a hands-on environment that requires precision, organization, practical skills, and celebrates the beauty of material culture — but I love building a community centered around that mission even more.
Iām a friendly, reliable, and passionate creative with a love for writing, stitching, and crafting felted wool creatures. My goal is to help others bring their textile dreams to life — elevating our individuality, independence, imagination — and move our society away from a fast fashion, disposable consumption model.
I believe in making a more beautiful future, one handmade piece at a time.
Art (Wool Sculptures)
Are they sculptures, or are they toys? Most, if not all, are safe for infants to play with. I love wool as a medium. It's extremely forgiving and accomodating. It's important to me that every piece is welcoming (soft and warming) to the touch — and have a sense of being huggable, in the hands, if not the arms.
Each one I create and give away heals my inner child.
Bear for Jack
100% wool, maybe 6-8" high. He has a lot of style and attitude because I specifically made this one for my extremely cool cousin, Jack. ♥
Prince Sky Horse
A big, sturdy friend for a small child, standing at approximately 1' high and composed of 90% felted wool. I was most proud of the removable saddle featuring vintage trim & tiny stirrups (not for an infant) — and his gold metallic-embroidered eyelashes. Made him for my newest neighbor. ♥
Didi the Dodo
I found modelling a fledgling of a species brutually driven to extinction by man to be a profoundly healing practice. This specimen was gifted to Margarita Meklina, author of The Little Gaucho Who Loved Don Quixote; she and Didi then traveled the world together. ♥ 99% wool, standing at approximately 1' high, the perfect size for cradling in one's arms, and vintage glass doll eyes.
Deet & Doot; Seabiscuit; Moon Bunny & Dooby
Given away to friends and family. ♥
These are characters from my children's book project, The Origin of Moon Bunny. Moon Bunny & Dooby float on steel wire and painted wooden bases; there are metal and crystalline weights inside Deet & Doot; and you'll find a bugle bead surprise stitched to Dooby.
Rabbit(s) and Fox Masks
Some of my work is scarier. For a while when I was young I was having really bad nightmares. I think that's what led to these doll- and adult-sized soft masks. The doll-sized rabbit and fox masks have natural pearl teeth. The full-sized rabbit mask is really fun to wear. I was born in the year of the Rabbit, and it makes me feel empowered to imagine the Rabbit as a predator. ♥
